NEWCASTLE

THE COMMERCIAL, INDUSTRIAL AND SHOPPING CENTRE OF THE AMAJUBA DISTRICT AND NORTH WESTERN KWAZULU NATAL

This vibrant, modern, mini-city surrounded by beautiful hills and valleys on one side and rolling landscape on the other is the industrial, commercial, conferencing and very importantly shopping centre of North Western KwaZulu Natal.

Here you will find several modern shopping malls boasting branches of all the major retail outlets supplying clothing, household goods, furniture, electronic goods, groceries, hardware, garden equipment, outdoor equipment and all varieties of vehicles. You will also find a wide range of chemists, boutiques and fashion shops, along with general dealers of all kinds.

The town also boasts many excellent hotels, lodges and bed and breakfast establishments along with several fine restaurants, and numerous well known fast food outlets. It is not surprising that with ample and reasonably priced accommodation coupled with the many excellent conference facilities, municipal halls and sports facilities that Newcastle is a favourite venue for promotions, conferences and many sports and cultural events.

Commercially the town is served by all the major banking and insurance groups and it is here that you will find the regional head offices of many of the Government departments. On the Industrial and fabrication front, Newcastle is the home of one of the giant Arcelormittal Steel Works as well as one of Karbochem's Industrial Parks with LanXess Chrome, SA Carbide and African Amines. In the Industrial Parks you will find the heavy industrial fabrication workshops of Venco, a subsidiary of DCD Dorbyl, along with Natal Portland's slagmented cement blending plant. There are also numerous clothing and furniture manufacturers, industrial suppliers, precast concrete product and block suppliers along with a variety of smaller businesses.
